Identify PPE Needs

Identify any personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. This includes safety glasses, gloves, shoes, hearing protection, and respiratory protection. Generate a detailed list that includes the specifications of any PPE needed. Consult with the Health and Safety group to gain their consultation.

Identify Impact of PPE on Performance

Use of PPE may have a detrimental effect on the performance of job tasks. A major issue with any PPE is the level of user compliance. Proper protection depends on 100% compliance from the user. Other issues are also highlighted in the table.

In the design process consider alternatives that would eliminate the need for PPE.
